Emily Ladau is a writer and passionate disability rights advocate whose career began at the age of 10, when she appeared on several episodes of Sesame Street to educate children about her life with a physical disability.
In the years since spending time with Big Bird and Elmo, Emily has continued to develop her career through working for and volunteering with multiple organizations to foster opportunities and develop resources for the disability community.
Emily is the proud owner of Social Justice Media Services, through which she harnesses the powers of communication and social media as tools for people of all abilities to become informed and engaged about disability and other social justice issues. Her writing is featured on websites including The New York Times, The Huffington Post, and Disability.gov.
Additionally, Emily maintains a blog, Words I Wheel By as a platform to address discrimination and to encourage people to understand the experience of having a disability in more positive, accepting, and supportive ways.
