L. Jay Burks, PhD, is the Manager of Supplier Diversity at the Comcast Corporation where he is responsible for implementing policies and procedures to increase opportunities for diverse owned businesses in procurement. Prior to joining Comcast, he served as Executive Director of the State of Delaware’s Office of Supplier Diversity.
Dr. Burks has taught both graduate and undergraduate courses for nearly ten years as an adjunct professor at Lincoln University. He especially enjoys sharing with his students his professional work experience that also includes responsibility for sales and marketing at some of the nation’s most recognizable corporate brands. Dr. Burks has held board positions, authored grant proposals, and presented at several conferences on multiple entrepreneurial topics, but his passion remains in higher education.
Dr. Burks received a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Morehouse College, a Master of Business Administration from the WP Carey School of Business at Arizona State University, and a PhD from the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore.
The title of his PhD dissertation was Examining the Relationships Between Entrepreneurial Orientation, Procedural Justice, and Entrepreneurial Leadership with the Reward and Performance Expectancies of Minority and Women-Owned Businesses in Government Contracting.
