Larry Roffee

Mr. Roffee is currently owner and principal of LMR Consulting which specializes in consulting on disability employment policy, accessibility in the built environment and federal management issues. Mr. Roffee also operates a photography business specializing in images of people with disabilities.

In August 2008, after 30 years, Mr. Roffee retired from his position in the Federal government. He served for 20 years as Executive Director of the U.S. Access Board. In that position, he was the agency’s senior career civil servant and was responsible for carrying out all of the agency’s programs and activities.

During his tenure Mr. Roffee led the development and publication of 40 sets of regulations implementing the Americans with Disabilities Act. The rules addressed accessible buildings and facilities, recreation and other outdoor environments, transportation vehicles, passenger vessels, telecommunications equipment, and electronic and information technology.

Mr. Roffee served in the U.S. Army as a 2nd Lieutenant from 1969 to 1970. He was wounded in combat in Vietnam in 1970 and retired from active service.

Mr. Roffee resides in Gaithersburg, Maryland with his wife, Margaret. He is an avid photographer and private pilot.
