Tom Downs joined Capital One in 2014 and leads the Corporate Diversity and Inclusion strategy for the Veterans, Women and CapAbilities Employee Business Resource Groups (BRGs). This includes management of the related external corporate partnerships, consultant on diversity recruiting and retention efforts, and BRG members’ professional development and engagement. Before this role, Tom led Capital One’s Retail bank recruiting efforts in both the northeast and mid-Atlantic markets. Tom retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of service. During that time, he served in both the Corps of Engineers and the Adjutant General Corps with deployments to Kosovo and Afghanistan. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Training and Development from the University of Louisville. Tom and his wife reside in Alexandria, Virginia.
